Answering the Top 3 Poker Strategy Questions

Posted under poker & poker strategy & poker tournament & texas holdem

Are there more chances to win if I play a tight poker game or loose?

You will undoubtedly hear both theories from your fellow poker players or possibly the so-called poker professionals. Let’s look first at the tight Texas holdem’ players. Everybody including yourself will have a hard time winning, if the whole poker table is playing a tight poker game. What may occur if you have a table full of tight poker players is the Texas holdem’ players will end up swapping the smaller pots back and forth to each other. In the meantime the poker room is raking in heaps of your hard-earned money, and that of your competitors. So now you might say, is it better to play loose? Well, in this circumstance the better Texas holdem’ players are going to lose fewer hands, but at the end of it all nobody is going to prevail.

How can I better my poker playing in the long run?

The answer to this question is as straightforward as a piece of paper and a pen. A great plan to find out a lot about your playing technique and strategy, is to keep some sort of record of your Texas holdem’ playing. You could write down this information during the Texas holdem’ game, and then pass it to a database on your home computer. This can also help you learn about your opponents playing style, and what is the best tactic to conquer them.

Is it a good idea to use the same tactics for every poker tournament?

If you consider that playing predictable poker is a winning strategy for playing poker, then you should think about changing your poker tactic. The poker experts have the same opinion that changing your poker playing method is the best way to confuse and bewilder your Texas holdem’ competitors. You should test a number of tactics, find the ones that work for you and change them up for each Texas holdem’ game.

The fine art of bluffing

Posted under poker & poker bluff & poker stories & texas holdem

According to the 2006 WSOP champ, Jamie Gold, he would be pleased to be recognized as the finest bluffer in the world of poker. But if his last Texas Holdem tournament is any sign, his wish may not come true any time soon.

The setting is the 2007 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic held at the Las Vegas Bellagio Hotel and Casino in 2007. Featuring $50 - $100 blinds and a $15,000 buy-in, Darrell Dicken is close to the end of his run. The seat 4 player has just raised his wager to $300, a pretty small increase with only one player calling his play. “I put him as being weak,” Jamie said, “I was thinking about raising, but instead I just called with a 10-3 of hearts to see what would happen.”

Jamie believed that Brad Booth would make some kind of move, which he did. He re-raised to $1600 from the big blind. Gold had the idea that Booth had a decent hand, but he was in a superb position to make a move considering the amount of dead money in the pot. Dicken finally folded, and the unknown in Seat 4 called Booth’s raise.

Now there was more than $4000 in the pot, so Jamie wagered another $4000. His thought was, only if someone else had aces or kings there would be no way they would make that call. Jamie’s plan was to make a huge move on the flop, as long as no ace showed up. The second part of his strategy was to get Booth to fold, which he did. Booth folded with pocket queens.

Coming out of the flop there was an ace of ace-6-5, two clubs. The player in seat 4 checked and Jamie bet $2000. Jamie’s initial thought was to make him think that he had clubs. Seat 4 tossed out a $10,000 chip, but didn’t say anything thus converting his raise into a call. Jamie’s thought was that seat 4 in all likelihood had an ace, but you have to shield it in case he hits his set on the upcoming card.

A 2 of hearts came out on the turn, and Jamie quickly folded to what he thought was a top pair kicker. Seat 4 displayed a king-jack off suit. Seat 4 tricked Gold by bluffing with a better hand, he created an excellent poker play and continued with the bluff to the end of the Texas Holdem’ tournament.

Poker is not just for The Greatest Poker Players in the World Anymore

Posted under poker & poker games & poker players & texas holdem

Texas Holdem’ was a game available only in Vegas Casinos or from electronic poker machines, but now it is more in style than ever in Vegas thanks to the the internet.

The well-known Venetian Hotel and Casino, is now banking on this popularity with its new audience-participation show called “The Real Deal!” in its Venetian Showroom, beginning in October.

This new idea will join comedy and game show elements to entertain its live audience. The audience will also be able to join in the popular game of Texas Holdem’ alongside the the best poker players in the world. Many prizes are available for the audience including a chance to win 1$ million.

In “The Real Deal!” the audience members will play with players like Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu. Around 10 of the world’s best poker players have already signed up for the game show. The audience will be able to play along with the 90 minute game thanks to handheld, wireless, touch screen devices located on each seat.

“People who take a vacation in Vegas want to play poker,” Negreanu says, “but obviously they can’t play in a big game with the players such as Doyle or Phil Hellmuth. But, in this show, they actually can.” At the beginning of each show, six audience members will be chosen to sit at the poker table on stage with two professional players. Each audience member is then involved in the action by being dealt a unique poker hand on their devices. Everyone in the showroom is then involved in the action with big-screen monitors located on stage.

The show’s producers say that you don’t have to be a pro poker player to take part in the game. There are other ways to build your point total, that doesn’t involve the game of poker necessarily. Betting on the suit of the next poker card or trying to guess which state a particular audience member is from, are just some of the ways to come out a champ in this game.

The show’s creators are also betting on the great personalities of the pro poker stars to have great moments. Someone like Scotty Nguyen, the flamboyant five-time winner of the World Series of Poker, definitely can keep an audience entertained and will provide some great entertainment in this new poker game show .

Important options in holdem.

Posted under online poker & poker & poker playing & texas holdem

If I told you every critical decision in online poker was actually an easy decision would you believe me? Probably not, but if you believe in your gut feeling and have inner balance and control then you can hear and listen to your gut feeling and follow through with your gut feeling. Your gut feeling or intuition can be your best friend if you know it is right in it, trust it and listen to it. Your gut feeling is that first feeling you get, the majority of people never believe or trust in there intuition and dismiss the feeling as just a thought and then think more and end up with no real confident answer or decision.

Everyone knows that one guy that seems to just seems to float through life and always gets so lucky, well that guy probably listens to his inner self. He’s probably laid back, never really worried or never panics just always seems so sure.

Your intuition isn’t the solution to all your problems and your gut feeling isn’t always right, just because your gut feeling isn’t always right it’s not correct to stop listening to it, you need to understand that your gut feeling is the best tool that will help your more times then not, so listen to it unconditionally.

You have most likely heard the miracle stories about animals sensing stuff before it happens, or animals acting weird or behaving weird before major events happen. This is because animals rely on 6th sense, they trust and rely on instinct for survival. They don’t have time to thoroughly think things through or contemplate, they feel there gut trust it and react on it.

This is not to say that you shouldn’t think about decisions or problems and should just do what your first 6th sense is, because evaluation is an important and critical part of the decision making process. Going over all the variables presented to you to come up with a conclusion. So evaluation is important and should be done, but you should be able to feel your first natural instinct and let it play a major role in your decision making process. You should give your gut feeling maximum value on the list of variables that you consider when making a decision.

For the majority of people they will never be able to tap into there 6th sense or will never be able to know when they hear it or feel it, this is because in order to hear and listen your gut feeling you need to have balance in your mind and body, you need to have emotional control over yourself, you need to be in touch with your feelings. Everyone has instinct and gut feeling so if you don’t know what your gut feeling is it’s probably because your mind is clouded and cannot clearly identify when your gut feeling kicks in and talks to you.

Being able to hear and listen to your gut feeling can become a very powerful tool in your poker playing, you have to listen to your gut though, the first instinct or thought you have is usually always the correct decision. Your mind is a powerful database more powerful then any computer and has a hard drive that stores every hand you play, every bet that people make, every situation that happens. So your gut feeling is usually what the mind feels based on your database of similar poker online situations.

So practice listening to your self, identify when your gut tells you something and believe in it and use it in life, use it on the Hold’em tables. Hopefully this will help you improve your Texas Hold’em game and make you a better player.
